OUR STORY

From one truck to an operating system.

Monster started with one plow truck and a 2008 Toronto winter. Eighteen years of storms, routes, and documented visits later, it is a year-round property operation — and this is how it got built.

Eighteen years in, the fundamentals haven’t moved:

THE ARC

Eighteen years, one operating principle.

Companies that survive Toronto winters do not get built in boardrooms. They get built at 2 a.m., in a storm, one route at a time. Here is how one truck became an operation.

2008

One truck, one mission.

Mikhail Evgrafov starts Monster with a single plow truck and a promise that still runs the company: show up, do the work, and be accountable for it. Snow does not wait — that first winter sets the operating principle everything else is built on.

2015

Growth the unglamorous way.

By 2015 the winter fleet is multiplying — renewals and referrals, route by route, no shortcuts. Scale forces the systems that define Monster today: fixed routes, real dispatch, and a record of every visit.

The award years — Toronto keeps voting.

Monster Plowing Company earns the Consumer Choice Award twelve consecutive years — independent, consumer-voted, third-party proof that the winter operation performs, season after season.

Winter at scale.

The book compounds. A fleet measured in the dozens runs routes across the GTA; the crew grows into a trained, uniformed winter workforce; and the operation learns what it takes to carry hundreds of properties through a single storm. Where that landed, in numbers, is the band below.

2025

The summer expansion.

The winter machine points at summer. Monster Property Services launches flat-rate lawn, garden, and property care across the GTA — the same routes-and-crews model, the same photo-documented visits, the same one-number accountability. Not a new company: the same company, running its second season.

Explore the Plans

Today — the operating-system era.

The whole operation — winter and summer — now runs on software Monster built for itself: dispatch, routing, service documentation, client communication, one connected system, with crews logging work from the field in real time. The next section is what that looks like.

BUILT DIFFERENT

The operating-system era.

Most contractors run their business out of a phone and a spreadsheet. Monster builds its own software — an in-house operations platform, built by the founder, not licensed from a template. It runs dispatch and routing, service documentation, client communications, and weather monitoring, with AI assisting at every step and people accountable for every call.

In the field, that platform is roughly 100 field tablets plus staff mobile devices, all connected through Monster's own employee portal — crews log work in real time, with photos, from the property. Across the fleet, it is real-time GPS on every truck. For clients, it is one digital chain from quote to contract to service report to invoice, with proof of work available in the client portal.

In 2008 the entire company fit in one truck. Today the company builds the software the trucks run on.

THE PRINCIPLES

The principles that survived the growth.

Scale changes trucks and headcount. It does not change the rules. Four principles, unchanged since the first winter:

1 — Show up.

Weather does not care about excuses, and neither do clients. The schedule is the contract — storms, heat waves, and leaf drop included.

2 — Document everything.

Every visit ends with date-stamped photos and a digital service log. Memory is not a record; documentation is.

3 — Own the outcome.

Every account has a person responsible for it. When something goes wrong, it gets an owner, a fix, and a follow-up — on the record.

4 — One standard, every season.

The standard that survives a February blizzard is the standard that cuts your lawn in July. Same company, same discipline.

We didn’t set out to be the biggest. We set out to be the company you never have to worry about. The one that shows up, does the work right, and proves it. Everything we’ve built — the fleet, the tech, the team — exists to deliver on that promise.
